Australia’s support to PNG’s transport sector is delivered through the Papua New Guinea-Australia Transport Sector Support Program (TSSP), a 15-20 year commitment to support the Government of PNG to achieve a well-maintained transport infrastructure network.
GHD has been engaged by the Australian Department for Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) as the implementing partner to deliver a component of TSSP Phase 2, valued at more than 204 million over 4 years.
The goal of the program is to enable economic growth by improving the safety and reliability of land, aviation and maritime transport to facilitate the efficient flow of produce to markets, and the provision of essential services and consumer goods.
TSSP is key pillar of the growing economic partnership between Papua New Guinea and Australia.
Australia’s investment in PNG’s transport infrastructure is a key enabler of economic growth and is the largest component of Australia’s aid for trade investment in PNG.
