WelcomeProjectsSophisticated design encourages collaboration
Known for creative influence and original ideas, communications agency DDB New Zealand sought to create a welcoming client and employee experience at its new office.
GHDWoodhead creativespaces developed a ‘theatrical experience’ interior fitout with an eclectic and rich collage of materials and textures. The unpretentious yet sophisticated design breaks away from the trend of advertising agencies with ‘funky’ offices.
The previous fitout was outdated, with staff split over five floors, creating physical and visual separations. The new office co-locates all employees (around 260 people) across two levels, including numerous sub-brands and groups, such as Mango, Track and Interbrand. Purposefully, no clear brand colour or logos are evident in the fitout, so as to reflect the office as home to the entire DDB Group of companies.
The state of art production suite is predominantly black and contrasts with the adjacent open plan office space, which is warm and open with abundant natural light and timber work desks.
Teams and clients can meet in a relaxed hospitality setting with stunning views to Auckland’s Kauri Point and Waitematā Harbour.
A mix of furniture by New Zealand and Scandinavian designers creates a contemporary feel with a local creative undertone.
Our Fitout team also build this project, delivering on time and to a constrained budget. Later, their work was honoured at the Designers Institute of New Zealand Best Awards 2019, receiving the Bronze Award in the workplace and office environments category.
